Shadow chasing (me)

My last post was a child chasing his shadow , now this girl can't escape hers , those pesky shadows !

This is one of the biggest paintings I've done.
It's acrylic and is 20" x 16" or 50cm x 40cm in new money

Close up detail with a mount around it.

I've changed this about a bit now I need to leave it alone !

Shadow chasing

I did this at my club today with a bit of help from two of the members on aspects of the shadow itself.

Please please make any comments whoever you or why ever you are here.

This is an acrylic painting and measures ( framed) 17" x 14" or 44cm x 36cm in new money.

100 portraits number 2. The Hunter !

I have set out to do a 100 portraits of people who work in the emergency services or have saved a life.
It may take a while !

The subject here hasn't seen this yet so I won't say too much until he laughs at it.

Up up and away

Comments welcome as well as bids !

The bigger one is approx 20 x16" and is acrylic

Sky launch

Got some very kind and pleasing comments from a couple of the club members when I completed this today.

Both said I have to do it bigger though, much bigger so watch out !

This is 12x10" on a canvas board so is unframed and is acrylic.

News news news

Who needs the very prestigious Holmfirth exhibition (where I didn't sell my paintings) when I got second prize at the very first Carlton art and craft exhibition !

The painting that achieved this very honourable blue rosette was this one >>>

The second piece of news is that I sold a painting to a friend at work who saw it on my blog and enquired about it. The painting is the cloud surfing one from a few posts back, the boy in the jeans and t shirt in the clouds. Go have a look ill wait here.....cheers J and M and little H !

And lastly here is a quick study of what is supposed to be Lewis Smith the gymnast but I didn't quite get a likeness. I like the hands though

Holmfirth Art Week

Well I've been across to the Holmfirth art event today and stood proudly in front of my two paintings on display.

They hadn't sold at this time but there is still a few days left of viewing to go.

The most pleasing thing is that I felt I held my own with the level of ability on show and although they hadn't sold I was still hopeful they or one of them might.

I learnt a lot from seeing them there, I need to create my own work and indeed I have some pieces that are my own work so perhaps my choice of paintings for the event could have been better selected.
The ones that I sent through were were my take on two other artists work and I seemed to be the only one who had done that.
Everyday is a learning day.

These are the two that are there and for sale.

Carlton village has its very first art event this Sunday 14th July.

Satisfied customer

I recently did a pet portrait for a friends friend and  she has kindly sent me a photo of it framed up.

With these words.......

Hi Karl. Have framed pic and it looks great. Thought you might like a look.

It's great to get some feedback like that and see it framed.

Thanks, Sharon

Cloud surfing 2

I did this little fella some time ago as a small acrylic and it sold to a friend. I miss him so thought I'd do another , this time larger and in oils.
It is 12"x 10" unframed.

It looks like it is in a frame but its just sat on a black book.

I don't know if he's jumping up to the clouds or flying above them ?

He's probably a Scottish, British tennis fan, well done Andy Murray !

Which now gives me a dilemma, do I call this wee fella, Andy , Murray , Fred or Perry ?

Beachy steps

A little 8"x6" painting done this morning in acrylic. Those trepidatious (is that a word ?) first steps into the sea at the height of summer that we finally appear to be getting.
