Shout out

Think this post is going to be a first as it wont contain any work from me. I just wnated to give a shout out to three artists in the North Yorks area who opened their studio's at the weekend and this weekend coming up 16th June.

Carol Holleran, Martin Pearson and Eoghan Bridge.

Carol's work is decorative and optimistic. It is inspired by the patterns, shapes and colours of flowers and natural objects. The formal, historical and symbolic attributes of plants fascinate her and she is continually making observational drawings of them to inform her work. The drawings are developed, using a variety of media and techniques, into paintings, prints or collages.

Martin Pearson is known for his abstract images made with pastel chalk on watercolour paper and oil on canvas. The artist's intention is to map or chart a landscape of memories, feelings and ideas, in abstract form. He is inspired by historical map forms and medieval Christian icons.

Eoghan thrives on the physical and mental challenges of sculpture. His work is representational, and his fascination of the horse and rider is ever present. Recent experiments with deconstruction, light, and 3D doodling explore an extra dimension of his work. They expose the process, and release some of the inner energy of the sculpture, and his work can be seen in a whole new light. Successful exhibitions in Singapore and New York have helped establish his growing international reputation.

I visited each artist and was thrilled to be able to just talk about their art.It was like musicians jamming !
An Art Jam ....mmmmm ?

I have known Carol for a few years and she encouraged me early on especially with pastels which I initially disliked.

Visit North Yorkshire Open studios website to learn more about their work and see some samples. Well worth a visit.
